Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz – Faculty of Geographical Sciences, Department of Revitalization of Inland Waterways (host institution)

The issues of the conducted research include the multifaceted functioning of the fluvial environment, with particular emphasis on inland waterways, i.e. the impact of anthropopressure on contemporary riverbed processes and the ecological status of waters; dynamics of hydromorphological processes in the catchment using modeling and issues related to the safety of navigation. The main area of research is Lower Vistula. Research is also carried out on other European rivers as part of international and national projects based on cooperation with research centers from Poland and abroad.

The International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS)

is a non-profit making non-governmental scientific organization having more than 7000 members in almost 200 countries contributing to the extensive programme of conferences and workshops, online discussions and IAHS publications.

International Commission on Continental Erosion (ICCE)

is one of the Commissions of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) The field of interest of ICCE may be broadly defined as including the erosion, transport and deposition of sediment and associated nutrients and contaminants and the interaction of these processes with other components of the hydrological cycle and the environment. ICCE recognises the pivotal role that erosion and sediment delivery play in many environmental issues and the inter-disciplinary research required to improve our understanding and management of such issues.
The Commission seeks to improve current understanding of contemporary and historical erosion, and sedimentation processes and the movement of sediment and associated nutrients and contaminants throughout the landscape and its impact on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, the environment in general and society.

Partners

WASER

World Association for Sedimentation and Erosion Research (WASER)

Promote study and development of the science of erosion and sedimentation; foster the application and dissemination of knowledge in the field.

Polish Academy of Science

The Institute is an important research centre in Poland in the fields of socio-economic geography, physical geography as well as spatial organization. Within the framework of the Institute, the Central Library of Geography and Environmental Protection is operating, this being one of the largest library centres of the kind in the world.
The IGiPZ PAN’s special asset is an active involvement in international scientific collaboration that, in recent years, have resulted in participation in more than 50 scientific and practical programmes and projects. In addition, in the last decade there have been ca. 200 national research and practical projects, expert evaluations, etc., which have been carried out by the IGiPZ PAN.

University of Silesia in Katowice, Silesian Centre of Water

Establishment of the Centre is the result of implementing and commercialising the ZiZOZap project (Integrated Suppurt System Management and Protection of Water Dam and Reservoir). Research and teaching topics of the Centre cover the areas of science related to physical, chemical, biological and ecological aspects of water management. One of the most important tasks of the Centre is coordinating interdisciplinary research in the fields of water-related science, conducted at the University and other research units cooperating with it.

The Centre is an important link between science and economy through the commercialization of research results and conducting commercial activities related to the use of expert competences in creating innovative solutions for water management.
